Laxmibai tells Gangadhar that she has fulfilled her promise of driving the British battalion out of Jhansi without bloodshed. Lord Dalhousie gets very angry that the battalion has been driven out by common people. He decides to send a political agent to Jhansi. Ellis is a British man who was well versed with Hindu customs. Samar Singh is cremated with full honours. Nelson comes to the cremation and tells Gangadhar that the British are angered by the driving away of the battalion. Gangadhar insults him and asks him to leave. Laxmibai apologises to Gangadhar and tells him that all that she has done has been for the good of Jhansi. A couple comes to Gangadhar's court begging for justice. The woman tells Gangadhar that her husband keeps on threatening to leave her. The man tells Gangadhar that his wife lost their child when she took a risk to save another child. Gangadhar is in a dilemma as he remembers Laxmibai's predicament when she too had done the same.
