Laxmibai's aim was to win the battle without deceit, and was more worried about the role the British would play in this fight. However, Ellis assures her that the East India Company would not interfere in the battle unless Ladai Sarkar had other plans. Meanwhile, Hamilton refuses to help Ladai Sarkar and warns her that Orchha and she will be ruined. Laxmibai sends Rao Dulajo to ensure that Ladai Sarkar too would not seek any help from the British and asks Ellis to be the witness. Ellis leaves the Orchha palace after getting the document signed by Ladai Sarkar. Ladai Sarkar orders that Rao Dulajo be duly entertained. In a drunken state, Rao Dulajo confides to the courtesan about the Adivasi tribes' poisonous arrows which Laxmibai refused to take but could destroy an entire army.
